·         The quotation must explain exactly what will be done and include a detailed drawing

·         1 year guarantee is the norm

·         Check how many years the company has been in business

·         Ask the company for contactable references. An established paving business should have many references.

·         For your own peace of mind check that the contractor is compliant with the BIBC (The Building Industry Bargaining Council) as it is required by law.

·         Don’t pay before the job commences. Remember you don’t have to finance the paving company’s business.
